Situated on the North Lincolnshire Coast Sunnydale is a great base to explore seaside resorts and quaint market towns.
Skegness Water Leisure Park
Skegness, Lincolnshire
For family seaside holidays in Lincolnshire, choose Skegness Water Leisure Park near Skegness and Ingoldmells. The park is in a great location just ten minutes from the famous beaches of the region, yet is on the edge of the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside. This site is open from the 1st of March until the penultimate week in November every year.
Skegness Water Leisure Park covers an area of 185 acres, which means that there is plenty of room between pitches for guests to enjoy as well as space for ball games and various other exciting activities.
The park welcomes guests with touring caravans, motorhomes, and tents, while those without their own accommodation can hire camping pods and rent holiday bungalows. There are holiday caravans for sale at Skegness Water Leisure Park from time to time, so if you really love your holidays at this caravan park and the area in general, why not consider becoming permanent caravan owners at the park, too.
The park has over 400 pitches to offer you, in total. The majority of these are grass pitches, with 150 pitches with electric hook up. The site also has 21 fully serviced 'super pitches' that are supplied with electric hook ups, water and drainage, as well as a television aerial right on the pitch. These super pitches also benefit from Wi-Fi internet access.
All of the pitches across Skegness Water Leisure Park are conveniently situated close to on-site amenities, with several facilities blocks available for guests to use during their stay. Facilities offered include five toilet and shower blocks, two laundrettes, and a washing up area.
Guests are very welcome to enjoy their break at the park without ever needing to leave the site if they don't wish to. All you need is here. The park has its own well-stocked general store, perfect for buying groceries and other essentials, while there is also the Barn Inn and Coffee Shop for picking up something to eat or drink. Live entertainment is also put on at the Barn Inn, ranging from singing and dancing to quizzes and bingo. It's all geared up to cater for families on holiday, so children are welcome.
Outside the Barn Inn is a wonderful enclosed children's adventure play area with climbing equipment, a seasaw, slides and more. Best of all, you can keep an eye on older children without intruding, from the bar area.
If you fancy doing a spot of fishing during your holiday, you'll have fun right on your doorstep, because Skegness Water Leisure Park has a tackle shop and a well-stocked fishing lake of its own. The fish you might catch are all fresh water types, such as Tench, Perch, Roach, Rudd, Carp and Bream. You will need an up-to-date fishing licence in order to fish. The water is 20 foot deep in the fishing lake, so keep an eye on your children near here.
Other activities available on the lake include cable-tow water skiing, an exciting and unique experience for everyone to enjoy. Tuition and equipment is available. This lake is just four foot deep.
Skegness Water Leisure Park is also the home of Skegness Airfield and the Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway, both of which attract visitors from across the surrounding region. The railway is the East Coast's only true narrow gauge railway, as opposed to a miniature railway, and when you visit you can discover its industrial past as well as its history of transporting tourists. Each locomotive comes with its own fascinating story.
A day out in Skegness is considered a must for most guests staying at Skegness Water Leisure Park. The town has a combination of great beaches - those in the north of the town are quieter for those looking to avoid the tourist crowds - while it also has the popular Fantasy Island resort along with a variety of shops and restaurants. If the town itself isn't entertaining enough, you can always pick up a day pass for Butlin's Holiday Park and spend the day trying out the leisure amenities and entertainment there for a change.
Those who prefer to keep their holidays simple will find that the Lincolnshire countryside offers relaxing routes to explore on foot or by bicycle, with miles of rolling terrain close by and the Lincolnshire Wolds a stone's throw away.
