Moat Farm Caravan and Camping Park is a small, quiet, select, family run touring park, set in a tranquil rural setting in the south of Ireland. The campsite is just one minute's walk from the village, in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. It is within easy reach of Dublin and Rosslare and is ideal for relaxing or to use as a base for touring, cycling, hill walking, mountain climbing and many other outdoor pursuits.
The campsite itself is a modern, fully equipped park. Unusually for a campsite in Southern Ireland, it offers free hot water for showers and dishwashing, plus laundry facilities, a campers' kitchen, a barbecue area, TV room and facilities for the disabled. You will need to get the key code for the barriers and for the washrooms from your hosts Nuala and Edward Allen.
This makes a great campsite base if you enjoy camping, motorhome and caravan holidays in Southern Ireland, especially if you like golf, fishing, pony trekking and walking.
Visit Ireland's Table Mountain, Church Mountain and Kildare. Head off to see horse races at Punchestown, Naas and the Curragh Race courses. Above all, Nuala Allen recommends that you should visit the Japanese Gardens, Glendalough and Russborough House, which are all highly popular with her guests.
Moat Farm can make a great nightstop if you've been visiting Southern Ireland and the West of Ireland and you're now on your way to catch a ferry from Dublin. It takes about 70 minutes to drive to the port via the N4, N7 and N81. It's also just 90 minutes to Rosslare or Wexford if you take the N80 and N81.
Moat Farm Caravan and Camping Park welcomes rallies and has a loyal following of clubs who return year after year to hold their rallies in the separate field.
Nuala Allen is a warm and friendly campsite owner and she loves to keep Moat Farm in a tidy but natural state, so it's a haven for wildlife.

Wolohan's Silver Strand Caravan & Camping Park is situated three miles from Wicklow town on the east coast of Ireland, overlooking Silver Strand beach. This beach is renowned as being one of Wicklow's most beautiful sandy beaches, with safe swimming and fun for all the family.
The Wolohan family has welcomed tents, touring and motor caravans for over 80 years to this 22-acre park, which is set among rural farmland with spectacular coastal views. Indeed, virtually every pitch receives a sea view. That's because the park offers a refreshingly informal layout that lets you pretty much pitch where you like, allowing for fire and safety regulations.
The site is made up from a series of fields and paddocks - select from a headland pitch with less shelter but incredible views, or a more sheltered position tucked up against a hedgerow and with an electric hook-up. There's access from all areas, either way, to Silver Strand Beach. You can also opt for a seasonal touring pitch that provides sea views right through from Easter to the end of September.
Two toilet blocks are available for campers, a dishwashing room with free hot water, an ice pack freezing service, a fully equipped launderette and clothes-washing sink, plus a substantial caravan and camping accessories shop is found on site. This not only sells last-minute essentials - this is worthy of a stay and a lengthy browse! In addition to a wide selection of tents, equipment and cookware, you'll find portable barbecues, gas appliances, outdoor furniture, body boards and wetsuits, fishing rods and tackle, plus sales of Camping Gaz and Calor Gas.
For those without their own touring facilities, Wolohan's also has a mobile home park separate from the touring areas. A traditional, all grass site, all mobile homes are laid out to provide peaceful sunny areas and are separated by spacious grassy lawns. Nearly all of the mobile home sites have sea views. But Wolohan's also has a great addition located on the campsite - a traditional 3-bedroom cottage that sleeps six, ideal for families or friends who wish to holiday together where some family members have camping facilities and others don't. The cottage also has sea views.
Wolohan's Silver Strand Caravan & Camping Park is 35 miles south of Dublin, with easy access from Dublin Port via the M50 and M11 motorways (there's a toll on the M50 motorway between junctions six and seven, which can be payable in advance via the motorway management website (www.eflow.ie)). Closer still to the campsite is the port at Dun Laoghaire, allowing visitors to be pitching up within half an hour from leaving the ferry.
In addition to nearby Dublin, the Republic of Ireland's cosmopolitan capital, this campsite is a great base from which to explore the beautiful Wicklow Mountains National Park on your camping and caravan holidays, where visitors can enjoy magnificent scenery while walking or cycling.
Another, lesser-known area, close to the campsite is the wonderful Vale of Avoca, south of Rathdrum, which is particularly stunning in springtime when the valley becomes filled with blossom. Of course, Wicklow's coast should not be forgotten, with the dramatic Wicklow Head just north of the campsite and, for lovers of golf, the spectacular location of Blainroe Golf Club, with sea views from all 18 holes and just minutes from Wolohan's Silver Strand Caravan & Camping Park.

On the strength of the now ancient Practical Caravan review of 2005, we decided to commence our tour of the South East of Ireland at Wolohans. John (Wolohan )is an easy going kind of guy who within minutes of arrival was with us to help us get pitched up and make sure all was well. The pitches are not marked out....the beauty of this site is it's simplicity.....park up beside a mains hook up (or not if you choose to ) and admire the stunning views of the Irish Sea from your hill top pitch.
There is also a large grassy area provided for campers who pass through.
This site has regular guests...including an elderly couple who have been going here every year for the month of August since 1970......here you can find peace and relaxation....you really can. There is an almost private sandy bay at the bottom of some quite steep but safe steps and for children the water play in the sea here is adequately safe. Brittas Bat beach which itself is a stunning place to go and unwind is amere 6 km round the corner.
Wicklow town with its choice of bars and (lots of) Italian Restaurants amongst others is only 3 km away.
John Wolohan has ensured that the caravanner/camper is well catered for in his provision of laundry facilities, clean showering and toilet blocks and an accessories shop.
His rates are not excessive for the facilities and scenery on offer and the man himself is a true Irish gentleman with an infectious smile !!!
If visitng....call or e-mail in advance and make sure that if travelling in from Wicklow Town that you do pass the first 'Silver Strand' Park which is full of statics as Wolohans is a short distance further down the road.
Do visit....you won't regret it !
