As we write this review we are sitting in caravan 24, which unfortunately (and this is something we were unaware of at the time of our booking) is located immediately adjacent to a public skatepark and car park. We have two young children, 4 and 7, and we have to say we feel it ought to have been highlighted to us that this caravan, or indeed any on this side of the site, were wholly inappropriate for young families. We now understand (but only from reading reviews after we became dissatisfied) that the skate park is shut at 9pm as a term of its planning permission. Whether or not that is true (and the noise on Saturday night does cause us to doubt that), the fact remains that the noise from the skatepark is likely to be unacceptable to all but the mindlessly drunk or terminally deaf. It is certainly impossible to get children to bed before 9pm and the prospect of eating outside is not a pleasant one. Turning to the van itself, the presence of green mould on the exterior did not fill us with confidence and the interior -though generally very clean - was heavily populated with spiders and cobwebs near the roof and especially in the skylights (which were quite filthy). We also discovered a grape on the floor under the table; presumably a parting gift from the previous incumbents. The van is pleasant but feels very dated and should really come with a health warning for anyone over 6'3". As a 6'7" occupier, I was unable to stand up straight in much of the van, leading to an uncomfortable back and lack of willingness to spend too much time there. On a more positive note, the owners are friendly, the location very convenient for all local amenities and there is a good deal of investment in evidence across the site, though not universally. We have eaten twice in the adjoining Caulkheads pub, where residents of the site enjoy a discount, and the food was good, with a home-cooked feel. Overall, whilst we have enjoyed our stay to date, we would be unlikely to return unless we knew the skate park's opening hours had been restricted to, say, 7pm.

we have stayed at Fort every year since 2007 for three weeks. The site is well laid out and maintained. We have used different vans, all were clean, some had minor defects which were reported and rectifid. The staff were always helful and friendly. I would recommend a visit to any one.

We stayed at Fort Holiday Park for 4 nights in an Excaliber 8 caravan, the site is very well kept and the caravan well equipped & clean. There is a games room on-site which our kids made use of and also the owners of the site now own the adjoining pub which caters for families. (the food is very good and reasonably priced with an extra 10% discount for people staying at Fort Park) The caravan park is ideally located in Sandown (walking distance to shops & beach and all other attractions). We thoroughly enjoyed our break and will definitely book againFort Holiday Park, Sandown, Isle of Wight

My wife and I first visited Fort Holiday Park in 2003. It was pot luck as we saw a small advert in the paper. What we found was a lovely, peaceful site, very close to beaches an all amenities. We fell in love with the IOW and particularly Fort straight away. Since the we have holidayed at Fort about a further 10 or 12 times. Our 2 sons and their famolies also love it. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. If you do have any problems and report it to the staff it is put right as soon as possible. We now visit Fort Holiday Park at least twice a year. Jane and David, long may you cotinue to provide excellent holiday accomodation. Fort Holiday Park, Sandown, Isle of Wight

We have just come back from a weeks stay at Fort Holiday Park and would highly recommend it as a fantastic get away for all the family. We have been regular visitors to the Isle of Wight and stayed in different places but there really is no comparison. It is situated very close to Sandown high street, the beach, the park, golf course, amusements, etc. There really was something for everyone. On the days we didn't want to go exploring, the site itself had plenty to entertain the children; it's own well maintained play park, football area, games room. While the children played us adults enjoyed sitting out and lighting up the BBQ. The caravan we stayed in was basic but clean and well maintained; having seen the brochure and website I knew what to expect and it actually exceeded my expectations. The staff were friendly and helpful when we had any questions or problems - all we had to do was ask. We can't wait to go again and will definitely be booking for next year. We had a 2 week stay at this caravan site in August 2007 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There was plenty for the children to do on site. The site is very close to all amenities and would definately recommend this park to anyone. Some caravans are older than others but we have not had a problem with ours. The staff are very friendly and always happy to help.We are also going on holiday there this year in August 2009.
