Park Description

Aird Donald Caravan Park is a family run, four star holiday park found on the outskirts of Stranraer. The park welcomes guests with motorhomes, touring caravans, and tents. Hard standing and grass pitches are available for motorhome and touring caravan guests, while a number of these pitches also benefit from electric hook up. Tent pitches do not have access to electric hook ups, while there is a designated field at Aird Donald for groups looking to hold caravan rallies.

An amenities block is available at the park housing showers and toilets, while Wi-Fi internet and digital television signal are also available for guests during their stay.

There is no shop or bar found on the site, but there is a wide range of places to eat and drink close by and in the centre of Stranraer. Most locations are within easy walking distance of Aird Donald Caravan Park so guests can enjoy an evening out without worrying about needing to take the car. Plenty of local shops as well as supermarkets can be found in Stranraer so guests can stock up on their grocery essentials and buy other provisions as they need to.

Although there is open space on the caravan park itself for children to run around and enjoy ball games, the range of activities available in Stranraer and the surrounding region of Dumfries and Galloway means that staying on-site for the day is rare.

This being Scotland, it is no surprise that there are many world class golf courses to be found in the local area. Most of these are open to the public throughout the year, with Stranraer Golf Course the closest to the park, offering a challenging round of golf to enjoy along or with friends and family, as well as amazing views of the sea and across to the Isle of Arran. Tourists looking to play more than one course during their stay at Aird Donald Caravan Park will find no fewer than six clubs within a short distance of the site.
Guests looking for adrenaline fuelled excitement won’t be disappointed by what they’ll find nearby, either. The famous Scotland Outdoor Centre is found on the outskirts of Galloway Forest Park. It is an hour away but guests always say the drive is well worth it.

Fishing enthusiasts can spend as much time as they please on the shores of Loch Ryan, with some of the Stranraer based fishing businesses even offering the chance to head out to sea with them, though you’ll need to get up early!

Guests feeling adventurous can take the short drive along the shores of Loch Ryan to Cairnryan, where they can enjoy a quiet day of exploration or take a boat trip across to Northern Ireland, with ferries travelling daily between Larne and Belfast.

Coast lovers can explore the largely unspoiled south west coastline of Scotland, which also benefits from an unusual warm climate and attracts many visitors as a result.
