Park Reviews
Add A ReviewThis gem of a site stands on the B939, just a couple of minutes drive away from the centre of St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland. Alternatively, the local bus service stops directly opposite to the entrance to the site. On arrival, we were greeted warmly and were impressed by the standards of the main amenity block and reception. The site has a mix of both statics and touring caravan pitches. The beautiful surroundings and gardens are mature and well tended, and all are well-spaced, allowing privacy for all visitors. The touring vans have their own area, away from the static caravans, giving a feeling of a site which is dedicated to tourers, though all static caravan areas are beautifully kept. Gently sloping, all touring pitches are of a good size with a well kept gravel hardstanding surrounded by neatly cut grass and all have their own 16 amp electric hook up, water and drainage point. Three different grades of pitch afford choice for visitors ranging from the standard sized pitch at £21 per night up to the patio pitch at £27.50 per night. The patio pitches are large in size with a small summer house, which is ideal for storing bicycles or equipment. These tend to be on the perimeter of the park and also have a patio area with a garden table and four chairs, which is a nice touch. Many of the pitches are screened by mature bushes and shrubs. During our visit, the many apple, pear and plum trees on site were bearing their fruits and were available to pick, which we felt was a really nice advantage. It seems that much thought has been given to the planting of the site to add interest. The washroom facilites at Craigtoun Meadows are outstanding. There is a good number of unisex spacious showers and also two full sized bathrooms, all with an endless supply of hot water. A washroom for the disabled is also provided. Additionally, each private toilet area has its own basin too. This facility is open 24 hours per day and is heated, exceptionally clean and is centrally accessible for all touring pitches. This has to be one of the best wash room facilities we have found in several years of touring. Facilities for children include a small play area, outdoor table tennis, separate area for ball games and a games room, which is located in the main amenity block, therefore away from the touring pitches. A launderette and information room are also located at the main amenity block, and basic items can be bought. Subject to opening times according to the season, there is also a small coffee shop / licenced restaurant on site. We didn't use this as it was a particularly quiet time during our visit, but it was due to open again over the weekend period. A word of note though, the restaurant does not accept debit / credit card payment types. A holiday in St. Andrews is a great experience for families or couples. The site is a perfect base to enjoy all that Fife has to offer, including countryside and Scottish National Trust or the beautiful and unspoilt coastal fishing villages. Of course, some of the countries' best golf courses can be found here too - a must for any enthusiast. A little further afield are the attractive cities of Edinburgh across the Forth road bridge and Dundee and Perth with easy access across the Tay road bridge. St. Andrews itself is a most attractive town, with plenty to do here without having lost its charm. The University of St. Andrews can be found in various locations around the town alongside plenty of shops, some of which are from the larger chains and also many more quirky, individual ones. Coffee shops, bars and restaurants are also in abundance, which provide a good choice for the discerning visitor. Despite its popularity with American visitors and the infamous golf tournament, prices in St. Andrews remain reasonable. This was my fist visit to stay in Fife. I would have no hesitation in recommending both the resort and Craigtoun Meadows as a fantastic place to stay. Add some beautiful sunny weather and the hospitality of the Scottish people and you have a great holiday experience - try it, you won't be disappointed!

What a great site. All pitches are nicely spaced, with stone chippings marking the areas to park. Every pitch has its own electricity, water and drainage next to pitch. Toilets/Shower/Bath house very clean and large. I could go on forever, will definately return!

What a great site. Lovely well tended setting, with roomy pitches. Shower/toilet block immaculate. Baths available - great for our young children. Kids play facilities excellent - two great big spaces with good equipment, including a flying fox, which provided hours of fun. Craigtoun park is just next door, and St Andrews a short drive. On site restaurant had good home cooked meals, at reasonable prices. The staff were really friendly and very helpful.
