Thanks for a wonderful weeks holiday, the caravan was immaculate, very modern and comfortable. Jenny was very welcoming and goes out of her way to ensure you have everything you need to enjoy your holiday.Red house is a small site perfect for a family holiday with a lovely private sandy beach, that doesnt get over crowded unlike other bigger sites. Gt yarmouth, cromer and the broads are only a short drive away and red house is the perfect base to return to after a great day out. We had great fun in the pub, jenny held a raffle/bingo night and i was lucky enough to win, which was a first for me!It was a great night, every one was so frindly and made you feel right at home. We couldnt of asked for more and we didnt want to leave. Am looking forward to booking our next holiday with red house and will not be going back to castaways site next door. Hope to see you again soon x abbie & pete p.s. Thanks for the blanket!!

Had a week at this fantastic place. Pete and Jenny are great hosts. We were in chalet 7 on the right hand side as you look seawards so when we opened the curtains in the morning we had a perfect seaview. The access to the beach allowed our children 11 and 7 to be able to go and play without danger. The chalet was clean and just what we needed for a relaxing break. Entertainment in the evening was bingo and quiz(on certain nights) and we were lucky enough to be there for a live music night. The locals who frequented the bar were all very friendly. By the 2nd night Pete and Jenny had our drink order memorised. This part of the country is so unspoilt and is great if like us you want a peaceful relaxing family holiday. The place is within easy reach of Cromer and the broads. Thank you Pete and Jenny for a great week and for entertaining our children. Would definitely recommend this site to anyone

Thank you for your nice comment. We are really glad that you can see and have liked the improvements that have been made over this past year. Look forward to seeing you again maybe. x

My husband and 2 children liked the sound of the Red Chalet Park, as we love Norfolk! We particularly noted that the caravans had full gas central heating (perfect for us!) and when my husband enquired of this on the phone, we were assured that this was the case. However, upon arrival, the caravan allocated to us didn’t have the central heating promised. When we confronted them regarding this problem that it didn’t have the central heating, the response was, “Oh……er………hasn’t it?..............................” Duh……….we decided to stay somewhere else. Park response (2nd February 2009)

My husband and i are the only people that deal with arrivals here at Red House and this is the first that we have heard of a complaint from a mistake being made with regards to heating. Since September 2008 the 2 caravans that have no heating have either not been let out, or when being booked, all customers have been made aware that the caravan does not have central heating. I do all of the bookings myself, and all the cleaning, so i am sure that i know my caravans inside out and would definately not put you in a non centrally heated caravan, especially if I assured your husband that it would be centrally heated. This is also the first i have heard of someone leaving our site on arrival when due to stay in a caravan. Many thanks for your review.

Thank you for your review. Pete and i are really glad that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again.

well what a fun 2 weeks my son and myself had, jenny and pete made us feel very welcome. the accomodation was excellent, the entertainment was brilliant. shame we didnt get the lawnmower though ha ha never mind maybe next year. i would certainly rec-commend Red House to all my friends. Jenny and Pete made sure they provided entertainment for the young and not so young, so if anyone wants a holiday for peace and quiet or a little noisy i would go to Red House and meet the new managers it was fantastic , worth a years wait. see you all again very soon x x Red House Chalet and Caravan Park, Bacton, Norfolk.

Thank you for your review. We are glad that you liked the refurb and that you enjoyed your stay. It was a great couple of weeks and everyone seemed to have a relax and a giggle. Pete and i look forward to seeing you maybe later in the year. xx

A small site almost in the middle of nowhere but then again its not called sleepy Norfolk for nothing. This site consists of two rows of brick chalets that face each other with parking in between them, there are also a few scattered 6-8 birth static caravans. The site stands high above the beach and the sea views are well worth packing the binoculars, this seems to be a pastime among guests. Almost all chalets have a sea view and access to the beach is by steeped wooden steps or a narrow sloped path, we chose this site for our staffy dog (chez) his first holiday and the beach was ideal for him, the owners are pet lovers so most guests will have some sort of dog on site. There is a small on-site shop and the site gets its name from the house that is now the bar, not much to shout about here, two small rooms and a pool table in another room, we went in the high season but most nights the bar would only have a few folk in there oh and its closed all day until around 7:30. There are a couple of pubs/eateries further up the country road and a nice standalone chippy, facing this chippy is a property where you literally knock on the door to buy your famous cromer crabs, there are several campsites all along the coastline which can be seen from red house, this site would not really suit families with bored young kids, maybe try castaways further up the beach. On approach there is a massive north sea gas terminal but dont let this put you off, there is no noise from the site and we never saw a soul there its almost if no one works there and it never crossed our minds the place was there. Staying here you will most likely travel north to the lovely coastal towns of Cromer and Sheringham or south to the Norfolk Broads or Great Yarmouth further on, there are also plenty of small inland market towns nearby. Smoking is allowed in the chalets and caravans. Dont expect to come out of the bar to chippys and takeaways, this is basically where countryside meets the sea, make sure you stock up on provisions although there is a spar type store up the road. A nice quiet retreat but some work is to be done on planning those days out.

Park response (6th June 2008)

Thank you for your comments. Since your review (May 2006) many things have changed on the site. New owners and managers now run the site and all accommodation is (chalets) refurbished and (caravans) centrally heated and double glazed. We feel that the location of the site is in an ideal position to explore the wonderful North Norfolk coastline and the many attractions that are within easy reach.
