Park Description

Ladycross Plantation Caravan & Lodge Park is a nature-lover's paradise and has earned a David Bellamy Gold award, and it is set in 30 acres of mature woodland within the North York Moors National Park.

Caravans, motorhomes and tents are welcomed at this family owned and family run campsite, and you can stay on a grass pitch, a hardstanding pitch or a serviced pitch. Want to stay longer? Seasonal pitches are available, either grass, hardstanding or fully serviced pitches. Plus, there are some individual luxury woodland holiday lodges available to rent or to buy at Ladycross Plantation Caravan & Lodge Park, with high end appointments, outside decking areas, underfloor heating and more.

If you're spending your camping, motorhome or caravan holidays in Yorkshire at this campsite, you'll be able to make use of its extensive facilities. There are 10A and 16A electric hook-ups available, while the two amenity blocks have showers, toilets and basins, electric shaving points, hairdryers, baby changing facilities and underfloor heating. You'll find a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a sink in the site's laundrette, plus there are two washing up and vegetable preparation areas.

The campsite's shop and reception will help top up your holiday essentials, newspapers, local information leaflets, a pay phone and Calor Gas available here, too. If you need to refresh your holiday reading supplies, there is even a book exchange library.

This is a dog friendly campsite and most breeds are welcome – there's a small charge for your four-legged friends, so be sure to mention that you want to bring them when you book. Awnings that are larger than 2.5m are only permitted by prior arrangement and will cost you £1 extra per day.

This is also a campsite that's very conscious of its impact on the environment, but perhaps that comes as no surprise when you learn that hedgehogs, birds, moths, insects, fungi and more can be found within the park's 30-acre plot – and conservation efforts are continuing. In addition, the campsite's owners have fitted low energy light bulbs and passive light sensors in the amentity blocks, so the lights are only on when people are in the blocks, as well as timed water saving showers and taps. Visitors are also encouraged to recycle where possible, bins provided at the park.

With a nature walk within the caravan park's own woodland, as well as the North York Moors National Park that surrounds the site, there is so much to explore on your camping, motorhome and caravan holidays in Yorkshire.

The village of Egton is about a mile from the campsite with a couple of pubs and shops – you can walk there in about half an hour. But as Ladycross Plantation Caravan & Lodge Park isn't far off the A171, it feels away from it all and secluded, yet at the same time it is well connected. So as well as venturing out onto the moors, you can get to the coast from this campsite. The North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage Coast is where the North York Moors National Park meets the North Sea, and where you will find tall cliffs, wooded valleys, sandy beaches and so much more.

As Whitby is only around five miles away, this seaside town is easily accessible, the English Heritage run Whitby Abbey, Whitby Museum and Robin Hood's Bay just some of the many things to do on your camping, motorhome and caravan holidays in Yorkshire, when pitched at – or enjoying the accommodation of a luxury lodge at – Ladycross Plantation Caravan & Lodge Park.

Excellent site with very clean modern toilet blocks and nothing too much trouble for the management team. Wonderful spacious country location with exceptional dog walking facilities - we will definitely be returning in 2013

nubi - 29th September 2012

I was a seasonal visitor for the last 3 years and only gave it up when work changed my attedance pattern. The park is brilliant, very quiet but well maintained. Keiran and Lisa do a fantastic job. William and June and Mick will do almost anything to help you. Having left the park and visited other parks you soon realise how good you had it at ladycross. Perhaps one day my work will change again and we can go back to Ladycross

Summer28 - 11th April 2012

I was greeted by wonderfully happy and friendly staff, who guided us to our pitch and helped us set up. The washrooms were immaculate. The site is very well maintained and a happy, calm atmosphere prevailed. Perfect for a happy holiday.

Great site very friendly its own car park in whitby great only one complaint units MUCH TO CLOSE to one another In the area we were put. Our caravan was only six feet away from the next van I think this could be a fire hazzard We were on pitch No111

Decided to head towards Whitby on a Sunday evening after a great day at Dalby Forrest. As i had not booked anything i hit the google page on the iphone and started looking for local digs for me and the kids. Came across Ladycross Plantation so give em a call. The gentleman i spoke to was very polite and offered me a choice of soft or hard standing. As the weather over the moors was not so good i opted for the hard standing. The park was very nice and surrounded with trees. Others on the site were very pleasant and happy to engage in conversation. The shower blocks and toilets were very clean and looked after on a regular basis. would definately recommend this park and will be going back ourselves at some point

basher - 28th July 2011

A really well run and friendly site, owners were very helpful. The toilet/shower blocks were immaculate and there was two blocks so no waiting about. The site is handy for Egton Bridge village with a couple of really nice pubs that do good and reasonably priced meals with real ale on tap. All in all this is a site that we will certainly visit again in the very near future.

california - 17th July 2011

Stayed for the first time at Ladycross for the Easter Weekend. First impressions, well sign posted and easily accessible. The site itself is quite large set in woodlands, it was very quiet which was strange for an Easter weekend but maybe the snow had put people off travelling, very picturesque, (especially after it had snowed!!). The Reception sells basics food stuffs and lots of information on places to visit, a bit thank you to Carol, who advised us on places to eat etc., nothing was to much trouble for her. Shower block was always daily cleaned and showers had hot water, (though my hubby complained on one day there was no hot water!!) I did not have such a problem. Plenty of dog walking areas. Staff helped situate and take off the caravan at the beginning and end of the stay, a big thanks to Paul and his tractor. Only downside it was very wet and muddy, but to be fair any site would be like this at this time of year. Definately looking forward to returning as we live not far away in Hull

Parisienne20001 - 24th March 2008

For a site highly starred we expected a lot more. The site was very basic with fresh water supplies un attended and hand drying facilities broken. Poorly stocked shop and very little contact with the proprieters. Dog walk was great though. Lots to see locally.Great beeches nearby.

Park response (17th October 2007)

'Shop' is to provide basic 'get you by' products as we do not wish to offend the village shop in Egton. We have 2 sets of wardens running the park and we are around and about as well. We were available if needed. Hand dryers are NOT broken and if they were deemed to be so, were the staff alerted to this? Need clarification on 'fresh water supplies un attended' as we do not understand the comment.

Wild and wooly site in Heartbeat land. You really feel away from it all on this hilltop campsite. First rate facilities as you'd expect from a top rated CC site. Play area for the kids. Local tourism is excellent, with Aidensfield (Grosmont)nearby, the North York moors railway, and Whitby and Scarborough.
