Fallowfield Dene Caravan and Camping SIte

Fallowfield Dene is located in the woodland area near Hexham. Be sure to follow the site's own directions. Please don't rely on your sat nav it can take you up some rather narrow roads that involve a fair bit of awkward caravan reversing! From the A69 follow the sign for Acomb, Bellingham and Rothbury (A6079), and it's signposted from there. Entry to the site is through a single-track road which is quite narrow, it does have passing places, but navigating your car and caravan equipment around the site takes concentration and care. Once here though - the setting is simply beautiful! The pitches are lined with Mountain ash and silver birch trees. Almost all the pitches are hardstanding. Each one comes with a 16A electric hook-up. The whole site is a great place for your children to set off on their own adventures. There are 25 touring pitches in total, and 124 seasonal pitches, with a few tent pitches and privately owned static caravans patched out throughout the site. The touring areas are separated into groves and given Roman names, such as 'Brutus Touring' and 'Caesar Touring'. The site shop contains a substantial gamut of food as well as camping necessities. There is a gas exchange facility on-site. The shop also doubles as an informal coffee house. The site is powered by eco friendly solar panels. The site's season goes from early March until the start of November. Site fees remain at under £20 per night for car and caravan plus two adults even in high season. Children under five go free, and dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads. There is, though, a signposted dog walk from the site. Site managers John and Lynne will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and to enjoy your stay. There's a barrier code for entry and exit, and you're handed a swipe card on check in at reception. The central washblocks are accessed by a secure code and are separated by gender. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Fresh and waste water points are signposted throughout. There is an outdoors chemical toilet disposal point, and a separate motorhome service point. The site also includes a launderette. The whole site experience is a great escape from the pressures of modern life.
