Ideal place to relax, unwind and "get away from it all". It is also a perfect base for exploring West Essex.
Sumners Ponds Campsite and Fishery is set in the beautiful, tranquil, West Sussex countryside, in Barns Green, just ten minutes drive from the bustling historic market town of Horsham. This idyllic spot offers log cabins and pods to hire, as well as touring pitches. It's a good campsite for relaxing fishing holidays as well as peaceful camping breaks for couples and families in touring caravans, motorhomes and tents.
This campsite boasts 100 touring pitches, high quality camping facilities, large woodland areas, a 100-acre working farm and four good fishing lakes.
Summer Time - Reception is open from 8am to 6pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, 8am to 8pm on Fridays and 8am to 5pm on Sundays & Mondays. Winter Time - best to check with campsite direct for Reception opening hours. The village shop, a short walk away, stocks milk, bread and essential supplies.
The pretty licensed Café by the Lake is one of the highlights of Sumners Ponds and would be worth going to even if you're just driving through the area and fancy a coffee and a quick look at the campsite! There are comfy chairs, as well as pine tables and chairs. Breakfasts, simple lunches and afternoon teas are available all year round. In the summer and during the peak camping season, you'll be able to get evening meals with fine wines and a selection of bottled and local beers on tap.
There are three touring areas with electric hook-ups, ideal for caravans and motorhomes. There is room for caravans or motorhomes with a mixture of hardstandings and grass pitches. There are also 11 premium lakeside pitches which can be fished . The touring pitches are in Bluebell Park, Ribbon Park and Sumners Park. There is also a separate tent field.
The two toilet and shower blocks have washing-up areas and laundry facilities. As you'd expect, there's a chemical loo disposal point as well. Calor Gas replacement bottles are available in various sizes. You can also buy small gas bottles for camping stoves from Reception. These are in several sizes of Butane, Propane and Camping Gaz (904 and 907). TV reception is poor, but you can rent a TV cable while stocks last. Mobile phone reception is weak. Wi-Fi is available at the café.
Book ahead to get onto the best lakeside pitches and you'll be all set for camping and caravan holidays to remember. Many of the lakeside pitches are tucked away, screened by trees and hedges for privacy.
If you like fishing holidays, you can buy day ticket fishing permits and fishing bait and tackle from Reception at Sumners Ponds Campsite & Fishery. About a third of the campers tend to be on a camping and fishing holiday, so you'll meet plenty of like-minded people beside the lakes.
For family caravan holidays with children of all ages, Bluebell Park is the touring area with a play area for young children.
There are six wooden sleeping pods available to hire and two holiday log cabins for hire.
