Park Description
Eskdale Campsite, owned by the National Trust can be found in the heart of the world famous Lake District National Park and is a five-star rated park, holding Visit Britain awards and an AA Pennant at this level. Open from early March until mid-January, our park is one of the best campsites in Cumbria, offering plenty to do on-site as well as having everything you need to explore the great outdoors on your doorstep.
We have 80 serviced pitches that welcome motorhomes and tents, and we welcome families in their cars to stay in our camping pods and on-site chalets. You can also bring your pets along to discover and explore this beautiful part of the country. The park itself has plenty of open space and a children’s play area to ensure that youngsters and your pets can run off whatever energy reserves they have left when you have decided it is time to put your feet up and relax for the day.
Everything you need to live in comfort while staying at Eskdale Camp Site is provided, including electricity hook-ups and Wi-Fi internet access. There are also facilities for washing up, chemical waste disposal, and laundry, while our convenient on-site shop means you can always stock up on essentials whenever you need to.
Outdoor activities and pursuits are what staying in this part of the world is all about. You can walk up some of the famous peaks of the Lake District, including Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, while gentle riverside walks are accessible for those who want an easier day out, although you can also access numerous routes on bicycle or by horse riding.
There are many Roman ruins in the area, including Hardknott Fort, which was a second century build, while you can also drive to the harbour at Ravenglass, which also originates from the Roman era. Lovers of culture will find many museums and art galleries in the local area, many of which have interactive features to keep children busy and entertained, while those looking to relax are never far away from a fishing spot or somewhere they can indulge in a round of golf or a game of bowls. You should also consider heading out to the beaches at Whitehaven and Seascale, while the famous Lake District towns of Windermere and Kendal should also be explored.
Eskdale Camp site is your perfect gateway to the Lake District, and offers an exciting break for the whole family.
