My my I really do wish I had done the research before using this campsite, but it was only a weekend get away! Being new to the motor home game, just prior to leaving the site and in innocent ignorance I was emptying the clean water tank on to the grass on our pitch when I was quite literally attacked by (what would be classified as common assault) by the female proprietor. Shouting and ranting about 'you motorhome people are all the same', I tried to calm her down and explain it was just clean water but she just escalated her verbal onslaught and at one stage I literally had to move to restrain her from attacking my property, my wife was reduced to tears begging her to stop and leave us alone. I have spent an entire career exercising restraint and dealing with confrontation but this was one of a very few occasions where I was on the brink of having to use physical violence to protect my wife and property.......and all over me venting the clean water tank. You have been warned, this is not about site cleanliness, views, value for money etc, this is about a psychotic lunatic 'running; the site who is totally irrational, beyond reason and quite frankly dangerous. DO NOT VISIT!

We were the first of our party of 12 to arrive for a joint birthday weekend and were greeted by a stunning location. The sun shining on the river views lifted our spirits following a dismal week weatherwise. The 'welcome' from our hosts left much to be desired. We had arranged to swap ehu with friends who were arriving on Saturday but this caused a major problem with the owners who said they had a queue of people waiting for this service and it wasn't fair that we should jump the top of the list - strange that we then proceeded to count at least 30 ehu's over the weekend which were not being used. The next of our party to arrive had rushed around on Friday getting his fishing license only to be told there were no fish in the lakes as they escaped in the floods 2 years ago(lucky fish!)Why are they still advertising well stocked private lakes on their web site? The weekend went from bad to worse when we were asked to leave the Red Lion as we were too noisy! The site itself is very good although rather wet underfoot - only to be expected following a very wet July. Plenty of ehu but puzzling why they refuse them to campers. Toilets basic and best to take your own toilet paper with you and a beaker with which to clean your teeth. Signs everywhere listing 'do nots'.
