Park Description

Uley Long Barrow Stratford ParkTobacconist Farm is a campsite in the Cotswolds. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty overlooking farmland and just a few minutes by foot from the village of Minchinhampton and its vast Common with great views of the surrounding countryside, this family-run camping and caravan site has been open since spring 2012. Here you will find 20 generously sized pitches, many of which feature mains electric hook-up. There is also an over-flow field for rallies which does not have electric hook-up, but is the site of the fire pit and barbecue. The campsite has modern washing, shower and toilet facilities, with generous family showers and a disabled shower and toilet. In addition, there are indoor/outdoor washing up facilities, a fridge/freezer, a kettle, a washing machine and a laundry area. Many visitors will be pleased to learn that there are places on the campsite where you can charge your mobile phone. There is also a children's play area and you're invited to enjoy chairs kept by the shower block, fire pits and barbecues. Tents, motorhomes and caravans are welcome at this campsite. And if you fancy something a little different, Tobacconist Farm has an arrangement with Cotswold Bells, meaning you can sleep in a cotton canvas bell tent - it will be set up and ready for use when you arrive. This is certainly luxury camping in the Cotswolds. The campsite has a car park to keep your car whilst on site, with cars only welcome by the pitches when loading or unloading. As the campsite's name suggests, this is also a modest working farm, with free range pigs, chickens, ducks, cattle and donkeys - there is even a highland cow. You can buy any groceries from the corner shop in the centre of Minchinhampton, just a few minutes' walk away, or there is a local farm shop a few minutes' drive along the A419 towards Cirencester, which also has lunch options in an Airstream caravan. Dogs are welcome, by prior arrangement. However, due to this being a working farm where chickens and ducks are allowed to roam freely, all dogs must be kept on their leads at all times. There are nearby public footpaths where you can exercise your four-legged friends, including one with direct access from the site. Visitors are reminded that they must clear up after their dogs - there is a bin provided for bagged waste. Yet it isn't just Minchinhampton that is near the campsite at Tobacconist Farm. The beautiful Gloucestershire countryside is ready for you to discover. If you like walking holidays, you're in luck, but you can also go cycling, horse riding or gliding nearby. Or maybe you'd rather play golf, or explore the National Trust owned Minchinhampton and Rodborough Commons. Just a 10 minute drive away is Nailsworth with a diverse collection of shops and local crafts traders. The pretty village of Slad is worth a visit for it's connections to Laurie Lee and the charming Woolpack Inn. Stroud is only about a quarter of an hour away by car, the market town of Cirencester about a 20-minute drive away and pretty Malmesbury around half an hour away. And if you want to venture a little further afield, Bristol is still less than an hour away from this charming little campsite in the Cotswolds. So if you're looking for somewhere to stay during your camping and caravan holidays in the Cotswolds, Tobacconist Farm might be quite a new campsite, but it has a lot to offer.
