Park Description

Peak District Caravan Park

An award-winning lakeside caravan park in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near the Peak District National Park.

Offering holiday homes to rent and own, Rudyard Vale is a very quiet and sheltered park, with a 'get away from it all atmosphere'. Since 1960, when the railway was closed, the whole area has enjoyed a quiet sleepy existence occasionally reminded of its former glory. Rudyard today is slowly coming to life again and welcoming visitors for walking, sailing, fishing, wildlife and those interested to learn more of its fascinating history.

The lake is owned by Canal & River Trust and administered by The Rudyard Lake Trust Ltd and by The Friends of Rudyard who have built a visitor centre on the lake side. There are rowing boats and canoes for hire and a slipway for sailing craft and for the regular activities of the rowing club, also a cafe has recently opened for business right on the lakeside where limited parking is available. An active sailing club is situated on the west side of the lake about a mile from the village. Fishermen and visitors are transported by the narrow gauge steam railway which runs along the east bank.

Things to do in Staffordshire

The park is within easy reach of the main towns of Buxton, Macclesfield and Stoke on Trent as well as the market town of Leek and many walks are accessible from the park. Enjoy sailing, rowing and fishing on Rudyard Lake or visit Alton Towers.

We have been to this Park for the last 18 years and have always found it to be a very friendly and happy site starting with the Owner, Manager down to all the residents. Situated only 4 miles from the small historic town of Leek, Rudyard Lake only a short walk from the site to the main dam head, for the more energetic there it is possible to walk the 5 miles all around it. From the site the views are of Derbyshire, Stafford Moorlands and Cheshire. Would fully recommend this site to anyone looking a friendly site with access to many different and varied places to visit.
