Castel Camping le Brévedent

One of our favourite sites is Le Brevedent at Blangy le Chateau south of Pont L’eveque. It is a member of the Castel Camping Sites group since 1965 and is set in the grounds of a Louis XV1th hunting lodge which has been in the Bony-Gurrey family for 400 years. The site was founded by Raphael’s great grandfather the Marquis De Chabannes la Palice Usually a member of the family, mainly Raphael, is to be found in the reception area, the shop, the bar or around the site. The bar in the main building is usually open from 21.00 hours until about 23.30. The site has good sized pitches, some surrounding the fishing lake which has weeping willows hanging over the water. The other inhabitants of the lake are friendly ducks. The pitches are set amongst the apple trees which provide some shade. The heated swimming pools main and separate children’s paddling area are set between the house and the caravan pitches. Near the Restaurant which is open every night serving local dishes is the small children’s play area which means that you can keep a watch eye on them whilst you finish your meal. There is also a children’s club which is open most days in season. Occasionally there are out door musical evenings on the lawn in front of the house and Raphael will play his guitar and welcomes visitors to join in. Site facilities include 3 toilet blocks which are kept very clean together with washing up, clothes washing and food preparation sinks. There is a motor caravan service point. Adjoining reception is a small shop with local product and a good daily supply of fresh bread and croissants. In the reception area, where all the staff speak excellent English, is an internet computer for the use of the visitors together with leaflets and details of things to do in the area. The site is well situated for visit to Pont L’eveque, Honfleur and of course the Pont de Normandie Our last visit was in June 2010 Directions: Only 10 kms from the motorway A13. Exit the motorway in Pont-l'eveque, and follow the directions to Lisieux. After a few kilometres you will see indicated Blangy-le-Chateau, follow these signs. Once you arrive in Blangy-le-Chateau you will see signs to Le Brevedent, follow these and once in le Brevedent, you can't miss the campsite. Situated in a lovely quiet rural area with easy access from Le Havre/Caen approx 1hr towing. Site owner and staff spoke perfect English and gave a very warm welcome.Very helpful in giving information re area and activities. Small shop on site for essentials,restaurant on site.Although late in season meal was good approx 15Euros each for 3 courses. Two main toilet blocks,one was dated the second large shower areas and best described as fair. Plenty of local markets in this area,approx half hour drive to coast-Honfluer,Deauville/Trouville.Well worth a visit Plenty of activities on site for young children,2swimming pools and canoes on Lake. Not a commercial site and plenty of space on each pitch all with electric points Caravaning Du Brevedent, Calvados, France
